WONDERKAMER RESIDENCE

Een architecturale hoogstand van de jaren ’60, is de modernistische Sint-Ritakerk in Harelbeke. Hij is gebouwd in beton door de architecten Léon Stynen en Paul De Meyer. Met een knipoog naar het brutalisme van bekende architect Le Corbusier. De vorm van het gebouw is een afgehakte piramide met een zeshoek als grondvlak, en creëert een centrale natuurlijke lichtbron in de kerk. Hoewel de binnen- en de buitenkant dezelfde architecturale stijl hebben, hebben ze toch een totaal andere beleving. De kerk is elke dag open van 8u tot 17u, maar gesloten op zondag. Je kan er ook een gegidste groepstour volgen.

An architectural highlight of the 1960s is the modernist Sint-Ritakerk in Harelbeke. It was built in concrete by the architects Léon Stynen and Paul De Meyer, with a wink to the brutalism of famous architect Le Corbusier. The shape of the building is a severed pyramid with a hexagon as its base, and creates a central natural light source in the church. Although the interior and exterior have the same architectural style, they have a totally different experience. The church is open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but closed on Sundays.
