In 1925 verhuisde het Bauhaus van Weimar naar Dessau . Het Bauhaus complex is opgericht in een soort van molenwiekpatroon van verschillende gebouwen, waaronder :

• Bauhaus School, met een vleugel waar studenten gebruik konden maken van allerlei machines, een vleugel voor theater voorstellingen, …
• Het Prellerhaus, de studentenvertrekken

Het Prellerhaus is een vijf verdiepingen hoog aterliergebouw in het Bauhaus gebouwencomplex. Dit gebouw zat niet mee in het eerste ontwerp van Walter Gropius. In het Prellerhaus konden de studenten wonen en werken combineren en dit bleek een succesvol concept te zijn. Dit gebouw was daarmee de eerste studentenresidentie in Duitsland die in een universiteit werd geïntegreerd.

In 1925 the Bauhaus moved from Weimar to Dessau. The Bauhaus complex is constructed in a windmill wing pattern with a selection of different buildings :

• Bauhaus School, with a section where students can use all kinds of machinery, a section for theatre performances….
• The Prellerhaus, the student quarters

The Prellerhaus is a five floor high studio building het the Bauhaus building complex. This building was not part of the original design of Walter Gropius. In the Prellerhaus, students could live ànd work at the same time and this turned out to be a very successful concept. With this concept, this building became one of the first student residents integrated in a university in Germany.
