DE KOMPAAN – SUSTAINABLE FOOD CONSUMPTION

“De Kompaan is a place that offers a variety of workshops on baking, cooking, picking fruits, and building. As interns at De Kompaan, Tözün and Yağız, we’re continuing to develop the Antwerpen Plukt project, which we started working on as a school Project with our classmates from Space&Service Design programme.

Our first task while approaching to this project was to start from where we left off from our last presentation and place all the projects made by our classmates in a complete user journey. Currently, we are focusing on developing a matchmaking system aims to make a match between a tree owner and a volunteer, so that volunteers can go and pick fruits from their garden.

In addition to our focus on sustainable food consumption, we are also working on developing a strong branding strategy that will increase attraction and motivation for both tree owners and volunteers to participate in the Antwerpen Plukt project. We are also committed to ensuring that we respect the privacy of all participants in the project.

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve already made great progress on the Antwerpen Plukt website and recently presented our work to project partners. It’s been a fantastic experience working on this project, and we’re excited to continue to deliver a successful outcome for our internship. We’re passionate about making a positive impact and are committed to ensuring that the Antwerpen Plukt project achieves its goals.

Massive thanks to the De Kompaan for having us!”

POM – PROVINCIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Katrijn has been making use of the knowledge and expertise she acquired throughout the year in the recent months.

“Everybody meet POM Antwerpen, the company that gave me an internship to remember. POM Antwerpen is short for Provinciale OntwikkelingsMaatschappij Antwerpen (provincial development corporation Antwerp). POM is a company that focuses on executing projects related to space (business lots & office space) and entrepreneurship. The department where I work is located in Niel at the university of antwerp science park.

During my internship I only have one big assignment and that is to do a feasibility study on coworking spaces in the science park. Since POM isn’t a service design studio this is a task that I have to do individually with the guidance from my internship leader.

By working on my own I learned how to use the tools better, how to manage my time in an efficient way and how to truly work in a professional setting. I can proudly say I now have a better understanding of what it means to be a service designer.

Many thanks to POM Antwerpen for having me.”
