Sustainable Coexistence with Nature | Tiny houses
DOELGROEP | voor iedereen
BEGELEIDING | GUIDANCE | Petra Kocjančič & Tjaša Čakš [ Fakulteta za Dizajn _ Ljubljana Sovenië ]
BESCHRIJVING | TEASER | »Although recently the term capsule has not been the word of the day, the spatial concept it provides in architecture has become ever more a part of architectural and urbanistic endeavors, real estate, and political decisions, and an alternative for sustainable lifestyles. Modular minimum living units and micro-apartments are again becoming popular and a reasonable solution as we rethink our housing needs and consider a possible future of contemporary compact urban living all over the globe.« – Peter Šenk, Typology of other architecture
The world is changing quickly, and spatial designs are adapting to meet evolving needs. The pandemic has reshaped how we use our homes, requiring designers to create spaces that serve multiple functions. With incomes shrinking, many are finding it harder to afford their own homes. This is likely to lead to more people sharing living spaces or turning to rental options. To accommodate this shift, living spaces will need to be more flexible, with a growing demand for mobile and adaptable furniture. Consideration of the psychological impact of small spaces is crucial, as limited space can influence feelings of anxiety, stress, or, conversely, create a sense of comfort and intimacy. Looking ahead, what kinds of alternative lifestyles will emerge that promote a balanced coexistence with nature? How will people live in the next 20 to 50 years?
The workshop, will explore how tiny houses can promote sustainable living. Students will design eco-friendly tiny house concepts. They will focus on using natural materials, smart space solutions, and energy efficiency. Through teamwork and creative exercises, students will develop ideas for minimal yet comfortable living. The goal is to inspire future designers to create homes in harmony with nature. The use and deepening of the acquired knowledge will be carried out through individual and interdisciplinary team work.
